第一篇 大学校园里的恋爱

Passage 1  Love on College Campus
    Nowadays, love on college campus is in no sense a rare occurrence. However, people’s opinions are much divided on this issue.
    Some teachers and students hold that campus love should be banned, or at least it should not be advocated. First, they believe that those who fall in love will inevitably be distracted from their studies. Secondly, upon graduation, it is very likely that the young lovers will have to part as they come from different parts of our county. So the result of campus love is quite uncertain, which may be painful for both. Thirdly, there’re reports of student pregnancy. It is girls that suffer most both physically and psychologically. Last but not least, love may create an economic burden on the young lovers, especially the boy students.
    However, there are those who believe that it’s natural that students fall in love. As adults, college students have the rights to pursue love, to find their true love. What’ s more, they think that love will bring them a sense of happiness, and it does not necessarily   involve material. 
    Just as every coin has two sides, love has at the same time both positive and negative effects on college students. It depends on each individual student, but the most important is that we should strike a balance between love and studying.

    It is obvious that there are some advantages of computer games. First, they can help students relax or kill the time after a day's hard work. And, it is also said that computer games help a student develop his or her intelligence.

    However, computer games have their own disadvantages. In the first place, it is very time-consuming to play computer games. Some students spend so much time on computer games that they neglect their studies. Secondly, those who play computer games excessively tend to suffer from some illnesses, such as short-sightedness. Thirdly, not only are they time-consuming, but also they cost a lot of money. Last but not least, if students are addicted to computer games, they usually overlook their relationship with others.

    Computer games are fun. But all things considered, the disadvantages outweigh the advantages. We should not spend too much time and energy on them, and we must keep in mind that, as a college student, we have a lot of more important things to do.

Passage 3 Are Parents Demanding Too Much from Their Children?

    Nowadays, many parents devote much of their time and energy to their children. They want their children to be a talented person when they grow up. And some parents often say "I hope my child will become a musician, a scientist or something else".

    But, in my opinion, parents are demanding too much from their children. So at weekends, you will find many children taking extra piano or science lessons, even after a week's hard work at school. However, not everyone will turn out to be a pianist, or a scientist. Making a musician or scientist requires not only hard work, but also a gift. Unfortunately, in most cases, children's interests are ignored, as they only have to do what their parents tell them to do. As a result, parents' love become a painful burden for their children.

    Each child is born unique. Every child is different. Parents should not force their children to do something. And they should love their children with their heart and try to understand them instead of demanding too much from them.
